„The technical implementation of elaborate models according to customer wishes using delicate materials and the challenges associated with them always brings me great joy.“

Sandra Ripp is the woman of plans at Groh + Ripp: not only has she been a member of the management team of the family company since 2014, but she is also responsible for dealing with the numbers (and plans) – and loves to see gems transformed into the individual elements that make up customers’ visions. ‘It is unbelievably fascinating when such a hard material suddenly becomes wafer-thin, fragile looking precious stone discs’, she says. It is precisely because of this passion and her penchant for precision that she is the perfect person to hold the position as head of the technical department. The challenge lies in working to the millimetre in order to more than just satisfy both her own requirements and those of her customers. She also lives for the close contact with the company’s national and international customers. This includes inhouse customer visits, trade fairs and trips all over the world to project meetings with leading companies in the jewellery and watch industry. Sandra Ripp also often has to come up with creative ideas during project consultations in order to solve problems, which she both enjoys and also succeeds admirably in. It goes without saying that she can easily name her absolute favourite material: ‘What could be more breathtaking and incredible than the history of a meteorite?’, she enthuses. ‘Its long journey through space ends with it crashing into the Earth – and no-one can tell exactly where it came from. And only after complex treatment does it reveal a very special structure with Widmannstätten patterns’. The meteorite is without question one of the most unique materials on earth – and at Groh + Ripp too.
